S. Francisco, dopo 6 anni la band di Mike Desert e Nick Nava, ritorna
in Europa!

I Jack Saints si formano nei primi anni '90 a Palm Springs, California.
Dopo varie collaborazioni, tra cui con futuri membri di Kyuss e Queens
of the Stone Age, si trasferiscono a San Francisco dove iniziano a bazzicare
la scena rock e punk locale, arrivando a un contratto dapprima con la
Scooch Pooch di Seattle (che ha lanciato Zeke, Bottom Feeders e Necbnes
tra gli altri), e successivamente con la cult label Man's Ruin di Frank
Kozik.
Il loro punk rock deragliante strizza l'occhio sia ai classici come
Ramones, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, ma anche a leggende del rock 70 come
Grand Funk, Rolling Stones e Black Sabbath.
Iniziano i primi tour attarverso gli States, e un primo tour europeo
in compagnia dei belga Hot Rod Honeys.
P ochi anni fa il batterista Regal lascia la band, e viene sostituito
da Bill Randt (ex New Bomb Turks, Zodiac Killers ecc.) e la band firma
un contratto discografico con Scarey Records da Torino per l'uscita
del loro secondo album "Rock and Roll saved our lives... but Now
it's trying to Kill us!" che ha raccolto favorevolissimi pareri
di critica in tutta Europa.

One of San Francisco's most under-appreciated bands delivers a great album of pure fun. Sure, they are pissed off and have been fucked over, but who hasn't? That's why I need some loud, angry rockn'roll every now and again. "Radioactice" is so catchy, it is destined to be a classic. They also played one of the best live shows of the year.

Dirty and gritty garage rock n roll with a Rip Off sound. It's raw and
straightforward and that's how I like it. That's how I want it. Nothing
over-complicated, just basic rock n roll with lots of energy. They've
released stuff on Man's Ruin and Scooch Pooch so that gives a good indication
of what sound to expect, and the drummer is formerly of the NEW BOMB
TURKS... and Captain Sean Doe from THROWRAG guests on a couple of tracks
too. The key is their plainness.. just fast and vulgar rock n roll.
It's like cheap drugs and cheaper sex all mixed up. No pretense, short
and fast and just a blast. I really like this record.

come questo fanno davvero bene alla scena musicale corrente .
Il classico cd che ascolti una volta e le cui tracce ti rimangono in
testa dal primo momento: una vera boccata d’ossigeno per iniziati
ed inizianti del genere.
Energico , vigoroso, potente , “Rock’n roll saved our lives…but now it’s trying to kill us!” è un gran disco, puro rock’n roll con riff di chitarra veloci, pezzi che non durano più di un minuto e mezzo, batteria che non ha bisogno di commenti, essendo nelle mani di Bill Randt (si, proprio lo stesso dei New Bomb Turks!) , e voce sporca supportata da cori impeccabili.
Proprio
come recita il titolo, il rock salva la vita del trio in questione.
I THE JACK SAINTS partono nel 1995 in cerca di fortuna da Palm Spring,
in California ,verso SanFrancisco con la speranza di cambiar vita e
dopo varie produzioni, partecipazioni a compilation, split, tra cui
uno con i Mondo Generator di Nick Oliveri, danno vita a questo trionfo
del rock’n roll che sembra essere stato registrato in un garage
tutto d’un fiato, manifestando il puro spirito del genere, l’indole
infuriata e tanta tanta grinta!
I tre mescolando l’amore per i film horror, wrestling e per la cultura trash in generale, possono a ben ragione essere considerati veri mostri del rock ‘n roll più maleducato e graffiante.
Difficile
mettere in luce dei brani in particolare perché il cd suona come
un unico sfogo furente, un’esplosione di adrenalina che carica
alla grande!
Non vi sono concessioni a melodie morbide e alle ballate più
lente, ma è ammirevole la coerenza di base in nome del rock’n
roll che fa eccezione solo a favore di pezzi punk-rock più duri
come “deadly nightshade” , “the wasted years”
e “chainwhipped”.
E se non volete che la maledizione voodoo ricada su di voi, non rompete la catena intrapresa dai The Jack Saints: “Tell 5 people to buy this record, or bad luck will come!... io il mio l’ho fatto!
P.S. Degno di nota è il fatto che l’album è prodotto dall’etichetta italiana Scarey Records!

WITH PRIDE nascono ad Amsterdam in Olanda nel Gennaio 2006.
Tutti provengono da differenti bands e da differenti esperienze nell'ambito
della musica Metal- HC.
La front "girl" della band ALMA(ex Die Without a Struggle)
proviene dall'Iran, il chitarrista Luca
dall'Italia (also in K-again),la bassista Mechteld e' mezza olandese
e mezza ungherese,
il batterista Murilo e' Brasiliano e il secondo chitarrista Max e' Italiano(also
in K-again).
Questa meltin pot Hardcore band olandese ha subito riscosso notevole
successo sui palchi
grazie alla carica,alla violenza e semplicita' delle canzoni sulla scia
di bands come Cataract, 100 Demons, Most Precious Blood e Hatebreed;
dopo appena 3 settimane vengono firmati dall'olandese 2KKBOOKINGS&MGMT.
Per promuovere l'imminente uscita del MCD "Pride,Honour,Faith,Destiny"
la band sara' in tour in Olanda,Svizzera e Italia nel mese di Aprile.

Hailing
from the musical hotbed of Sweden and taking their moniker from the
pro-wrestling show of the same name, SMACKDOWN offer a unique take on
the hardcore style. With the incorporation of wrestling references into
social critical hardcore, SMACKDOWN are like no other band around.
SMACKDOWN burst into the scene with a self-released 5 song demo in 2001.
The band quickly gained the attention of Coalition Records, who released
the band's debut 7" in November of 2002. Goodfellow released "Calling
the spots" february 2005. Having taken their explosive live show
to basements and venues across Europe for nearly three years now, always
received good reviews from their audience, earning a reputation as a
hardhitting and entertaining liveact.
In the making of their latest album "Someone has to kill the headwriter"
released, Goodfellow, april 2006, the band abandoned all sense of prestige.
The goal with the album was, simply, to release yet another album. The
riffs were stolen from Mötley Crue, Slayer, Breach, Black Flag,
Black Sabbath and Big Black. The sound is bland and without nuance.
The lyrics are incomprehensible. But what does it matter? The Smackdown
are totally amazing alive! The way the fight, the way they mosh and
the way they bleed. With an effort like theirs in hardcore basements
all over, failure is out of the question. Last year they made 90 gigs
all over Europe and this year they plan on the double. The harder you
try, the more you win.
In 2006 there still remains a band that willingly gets in a van and
drives it on their own to a gig happily booked by themselves to play
to kids that didn't have to take a bank loan out to pay to get into
said show. A band that doesn't stop to change a string when it breaks
and instead throws the instrument down and drops an elbow on it and
throws it into the crowd. A kind of band that will in our lifetime die
a horrible death and be taken over by the cold hand of insincerity
and greed. This band is a punk rock band, this band is a hardcore band,
this band is THE SMACKDOWN.

The Tiptons vengono da Seattle e sono un quartetto di sax con percussioni, formato esclusivamente da donne.
Il loro nome è un omaggio alla sassofonista e pianista Dorothy Lucile Tipton, alias Billy Tipton, che per farsi largo nel mondo maschile del jazz degli fu costretta a mutare il proprio nome e a travestirsi da uomo.
Il
gruppo vanta, tra le altre, la presenza di Amy Denio (Fred Frith, Matt
Cameron, Derek Bailey, Roy Paci, Eugene Chadbourn, Wayne Horvitz, Pat
Graney) e Jessica Lurie (Bill Frisell, The Indigo Girls, Ellen Fullman,
Carlo Actic Dato, Nels Cline, The Pat Grainey Dance Company, Scott Amendola,
Eyvind Kang, Wayne Horvitz, Danijel Zezelj), ex membri del
Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet (BTMSQ), rinomato a livello
internazionale, nonchè di Elisabeth Pupo Walker (percussionista
dei Tuatara di Peter Buck dei REM).
Le Tiptons agiscono invece allo scoperto e sono autrici di un mix sonoro che attinge al jazz di New Orleans e a quello più avanguardistico, così come alla musica klezmer e persino all’hip hop, per un excursus tra i generi e le culture, tra tradizione e sperimentazione.
Con influenze che vanno dal punk alla musica dell'est Europa, passando per lo stile "jump" di New Orleans, le Tiptons presentano una delle sonorità più selvagge mai realizzate da un quartetto di sax. I loro indimenticabili e ironici concerti sono caratterizzati da una forte interazione tra i membri del gruppo e da un repertorio che tocca generi di tutto il mondo.
La particolarità delle Tiptons sta nella continua sorpresa: oltre ai sassofoni e le percussioni, il lato femminile che non significa solo delicatezza e che svela invece una incredibile energia, il repertorio sempre vario, che spazia da brani originali a brucianti riletture del geniale Raymond Scott.
Nel
marzo del 2003 le Tiptons producono un EP di cinque brani e suonano
in Messico, Kansas e in ottobre girano la West Coast.
Nel febbraio del 2004 esce "Tsunami", pubblicato negli Stati
uniti da Zipa/Spoot Music ed in Europa da No Man's Land records.
Subito dopo suonano senza sosta in Italia, Germania, Austria e Slovenia
riscotendo ovunque il consenso unanime di pubblico e stampa.
Durante il loro West Coast Tour del 2004 suonano al Earshot Jazz Festival
a Seattle. In seguito si esibiscono in ben 26 concerti in Europa nella
primavera del 2005 e ben 15 concerti in 15 giorni tra Luglio ed Agosto
2005, le cui tappe fondamentali hanno toccato festivals del peso di
Teatro in Campo a Venezia, Croassroads festival a Ravenna, Belleville
festival a Torino, Terre di Collina a Caltanissetta (Rai 3), Suoni del
Mondo a Riva del Garda, Now's the Time a Umbertide, Castelbasso festival,
etc.....
Il nuovo spettacolo previsto per il 2006 propone anche il materiale tratto dal progetto multimediale Shop of Wild dreams realizzato con il celebre illustratore Danijel Zezelj ed il video artista Aric Meyer, spettacolo commissionato dal Consolidated Works Performance Space di Seattle.
Come
BTMSQ hanno raggiunto l’Estonia per registrare l'album "Pollo
d'Oro" con Ne Zhdali, hanno collaborato con musicisti russi al
Arts Festival di Seattle e con la Pat Graney Dance Company e hanno condiviso
il palco con le Indigo Girls, Wayne Horvitz, Oliver Lake, Zap Mama,
Richard Thompson and Iva Bittova.
Il gruppo ha girato l’Europa otto volte suonando in festival sold-out
come il North Sea Jazz Festival, il MIMI Festival ad Arles (Francia),
l’Horfest in Austria ed il Klinkende Munt Music Festival a Bruxelles.
Hanno anche suonato sul palco del du Maurier Jazz Festival a Vancouver,
del Michigan Women's Music Festival, del Bumbershoot Music Festival
a Seattle e in tutto il Nord America.
