beat down!! Dalla Bridge 9 Records...
I Death Before Dishonor non hanno bruciato le
tappe per essere velocemente
sulla bocca di tutti per poi cadere nel dimenticatoio. Boston ha dato
loro molte
opportunità, ma nella città dell'hardcore riesci a farti
rispettare solo attraverso
dedizione, duro lavoro e lo spirito che ha tenuto vivo l'hc in tutti
questi anni.
Dopo "True Till Death" su Spook city records esce subito uno
split con i Nourish
The Flame e iniziano i primi tour.
Acclamati e richiesti ovunque e i bentornati in posti dove prima erano
estranei.
Nel 2004 i Death Before Dishonor entrano in studio con Jim Siegel (Dropkick
Murphys, Blood For Blood) e nel 2005 trovano casa nella Bridge Nine
records (Give up the ghost, Champion, Terror, ...) che nel gennaio del
2005 fa uscire "Friends, Family, Forever".
A maggio 2005 i Death Before Dishonor arrivano per la prima volta in
Europa sostituendo i Terror nello Unity Tour assieme ad Agnostic Front,
Diecast, Black Friday 29.
Con quest'ultimi i Death Before Dishonor stanno realizzando uno split,
il quale
uscirà questo Aprile/Maggio per Bridge Nine records.
In quel periodo la band, dopo aver terminato il tour USA con Ramallah,
Remembering Never, Suffocate Faster e quello in Canada e Puerto Rico,
la band arriva nuovamente in Europa.
Protagonisti
del famigerato documentario “Boston Beat Down”,
colonne portanti della migliore etichetta hardcore di questi anni, la
Bridge9, i DBD sono, con gli HOODS,
l’evento hc della stagione.

di cambiare la storia della musica. I For Mistake vogliono solo continuare
a riversare passione, sudore e onestà nella loro musica. E lo
faranno.
Al momento stanno lavorando sul materiale che verrà registrato
sul loro disco di debutto, e suonando dovunque sia possibile. Hanno
diviso il palco con hc/indie/emo band come On the Might of Princes (USA
– Revelation Records), Crime In Stereo (USA – Nitro Records),
Seven Feet Four (SWE), Cameran (AT), The Subrosa Falcon Association
(GER), The Apollo Program (FR), Forty Winks, Nitrojuice, May I Refuse,
Rituals, Daylight Seven Times, AIM, Mrs Fletcher e molte altre.

Sacramento, California... Per gli amanti di Madball, Terror...
In giro ormai da dieci anni e con numerose
releases alle spalle, giungono al mio giudizio i californiani, di Sacramento,
Hoods, band dedita alla riscoperta e alla preservazione degli storici
stilemi dell’hardcore. Ed è proprio per questo che, a loro
dire, con questo disco si vogliono scagliare contro l’imbastardimento
del loro genere preferito, e lo fanno con questo “The King Is
Dead” che, sempre a loro dire, rappresenta un disco onesto e brutale,
una sorta di chiamata alle armi.

Timely to their tenth year of existence, HOODS
changed their label from Victory Records to Eulogy Records. It’s
obvious that this doesn’t affect anything in terms of musical
direction or lyrical attitude.
HOODS are as well famous for hard working; the guys from Sacramento
released every year a new record since 1999.
Hardcore in the vein of HATEBREED, TERROR or maybe also BLACKLISTED. Murderous-thickly produced songs like “Dawn Out”, “Ernie Cortez” or “Heartless” are really punishing.
Each
track is a new punch in your face without any flourish. HOODS unfortunately
avoid too much obvious Metal hints; this makes them more authentic and
it prevents from being connected with the trendy Metalcore scene. But
their overwhelming heaviness makes them much appealing not only for
the Hardcore fans but also for some Thrash Metal fanatics. There’s
nothing new but it’s solid and 100% honest stuff, which makes
some newcomers look like palely.

My all time favorite stories about hardcore usually originate from this
band. For example, the singer Mikey Hood (as he is affectionately known
as) has HUGE x’s tattooed on his leg but drinks like a mad man!
What is his reasoning you ask? “I am just taking a straight edge
vacation” were the direct quotes he once said to me. Not to mention
the story about how they got their Victory Records deal in the first
place. Mikey calls Tony up and says to sign his band, Tony poses him
a challenge where if he called him everyday for a year then he would
put out their next record. We all knew what happened next.
Regardless of the great stories that have come out of this band, Hoods have to be given credit for being a working class hardcore band. They have struggled through lineup changes, horrible tours and everything in between and still have come out with record after record. Now Eulogy pairs up with this underdog and have created a solid pairing. While this style and approach doesn’t do one thing for me, there is obviously a demographic for this.
Kids
that think Terror is the best thing since sliced bread would undoubtedly
eat this up. It’s straight forward, tough and shows no signs of
slowing up.

chiude con questo minifestival la stagione 2005/2006, decisamente soddisfacente
sotto ogni punto di vista. Anche quest'anno Gram ha portato a Torino
band di assoluto valore internazionale. ma soprattutto band sconosciute
che avete avuto modo di apprezzare anche senza la pubblicità
martellante che ormai domina il mondo della musica. Musica NON per le
masse.
Gram continuerà a portare la musica che piace a noi, a quelli
che detestano la musica di massa. Quella iperpubblicizzata, sponsorizzata
da cani e porci, gestita da chi di musica non ne ascolta proprio, o
ne ascolta ben altra rispetto a quella che propone.
Rock e pop (per non parlare del punk e dell'hardcore), sono diventati
né più né meno che generi di consumo per spillare,
più o meno indirettamente (vedi i cosiddetti concerti istituzionali
'gratis') soldi e consenso a spettatori, locali, pubblicitari, giornali,
radio e tv. Oggi non c'è politico o politicante, ancorchè
antagonista, che non si sciacqui la bocca con parole come 'trasgressivo',
'rivoluzionario', 'evento' e stronzate del genere.
Gram pensa che di musica si debba occupare solo chi la ascolta, la vive
tutti i giorni sulla propia pelle e non chi sta dietro ad una scrivania,
chi passa la sera a casa a parlare con la tv o alla tv.
Se cè un dio lassù, è malefico, ha le sembianze
di Lemmy e a costoro farà cadere tette e coglioni se già
non l'ha fatto (controllare).
QUINDI, porcatroia, questo festival vuol essere sia un omaggio a due grandi band torinesi che ancora quest'anno mancavano sul palco per Gram, sia due nuove band (una di Milano e l'altra di La Spezia) giovani, brave e degne di successo. I Miracle li abbiamo già visti di spalla assieme agli Have Heart e i AOAY hanno appena fatto uscire un piccolo capolavoro di old school per la storica Green records.
In culo ai finti, ai rassegnati, ai posers e agli speculatori, siateci.
