United Club - Comunicato agli amici, sostenitori, collaboratori e affini
Durante la notte tra sabato 9 e domenica 10, complice una tempesta su Torino, il nostro circolo è stato pesantemente danneggiato da un incendio; un fulmine, probabilmente, ha innescato un incendio nel quadro elettrico al piano terra dando luogo ad un incendio delle canaline elettriche circostanti. Il dolo è escluso.
L'incendio ha coinvolto l'entrata, le scale e il pianerottolo del primo piano, il fumo ha invaso la sala concerti. I danni, diretti e indiretti, sono ingenti: distrutta la bussola d'entrata, muri anneriti, amplificazione e tutte le atttrezzature della sala (impianti ricambio aria, condizionatori, luci) da revisionare, vetri esplosi, impianto elettrico distrutto.
L'intervento dei pompieri ha scongiurato che l'incendio si diffondesse (il club era chiuso da 6 giorni) ma l'entrata forzata ha prodotto ulteriori danni; portone divelto, due porte scardinate. Naturalmente tutti i locali sono da ripulire radicalmente.
Stiamo procedendo con il conto dei danni ma soprattutto con il ripristino del locale: innanzitutto la pulizia industriale e risanatura dei locali, verifica del PA, quindi procederemo con la ristrutturazione generale: non avendo ricavati dal club, come ben sapete (siamo ancora lontani dal pareggio), il tutto comporterà un ulteriore indebitamento.
D'altra parte, non ci ha mai sfiorato l'idea di abbandonare per un semplice disastro naturale (shit happens...), quindi vogliamo rassicurare tutti riguardo al nostro futuro: a metà settembre, per primi come al solito, apriremo la stagione 2011 - 2012.
Mica vogliamo abbandonarci/vi a facebook e al grande fratello...
Molte persone hanno, in questi primi giorni, manifestato la propria solidarietà verso lo United Club nei modi più diversi: c'è chi è passato direttamente restando a darci aiuto morale e pratico, chi ha aperto una pagina web per raccogliere fondi (Padre Pio e i terremotati di Haiti prenderanno meno quest'anno...) e in molti stanno organizzando in più città dei concerti in nostra solidarietà.
Quindi, grazie a tutti costoro che hanno agito da carburante emotivo e materiale per noi dello United.
Verrebbe quasi da pensare che il club sia qualcosa in più di un semplice posto dove si fanno concerti... ma fermiamoci qui.
Fateci sapere le vostre eventuali iniziative, il minimo che possiamo fare è pubblicizzarle attraverso la nostra mailing list.

United Club – Announcement to friends, supporters, collaborators and fellows
During the night between Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of July, a
thunderstorm over Turin as accessory, our club was badly damaged by a fire;
Lightning, probably, sparked a fire in the power panel of the first floor
setting the nearby cabling ducts ablaze. No criminal intent or malice
whatsoever.
Flames spread from the entrance, to the stairs to and landing of the second
floor, smoke engulfed the music hall and stage area. Damages, direct and
indirect, are pretty heavy: inner door destroyed, blackened walls,
amplification equipment and all electrical appliances of the hall
(ventilation, air conditioning, lights) to be reassessed and serviced, blown
out windows and glass, electrical system and wiring consumed.
Firefighters' intervention prevented the fire from spreading further (the
club had been closed for 6 days) but their break in caused additional
damages: wrecked main door, another two doors broken off hinges. Naturally
every corner of the club is in need of radical cleaning.
Damages evaluation and especially venue restoration is underway: first of
all industrial cleaning and sanitation of the premises, servicing of the PA
system, then we'll proceed with the conventional refurbishment; having no
profits from the club, as it's very well known (break-even still far away),
all that will involve further indebtedness.
On the other hand, the idea of giving in due to a simple natural disaster
has never crossed our mind (shit happens...), hence we want to reassure
everyone regarding our future: mid September, the first as usual, we'll kick
off the 2011-2012 season.
No way we're leaving ourselves and you to Facebook and the Big Brother...
Many have, in these first few days, shown their solidarity with the United
Club in a variety of ways: some have shown up personally and stayed with us
to provide moral and actual support, others have started a website to raise
funds (Padre Pio and the Haiti earthquake victims will have to do with a bit
less this year...) and many are organizing benefit gigs for us in several
cities.
Therefore, thank you very much to all who have provided emotional and
substantial fuel for us of the United.
One would think the club is something more than a venue for live music...
but let's leave it at that.
Let us know your future initiatives, the least we can do is advertise them
via our mailing list.
